Kitty Pryde, now referred to simply as Kitty, is best known for her witty rapping that has ended up in everything from multiple quality EPs to a collaboration with the Neon Icon himself, RiFF RAFF. On a new cut entitled “Second Life,” though, Kitty has taken her sound in an unexpected direction with phenomenal results. Featuring luscious electronic instrumentals that transition from twinkling ambient flutters to pattering drum and bass, she meets the production with highly focused vocals that sound as if they were recited in a dreamlike state which is all too fitting for the lyrics, “you got me lost in my lucid dreams.” As a whole, the track is without a doubt her best work to date, and this makes for one excited UTG staff as there is no telling what sonic territory she plans to explore next.
“Second Life” comes from Kitty’s forthcoming album, flowerviolence, which unfortunately has no set release date at this time. For now, though, prepare to fall in love while following the jump to stream the otherworldly cut.
